Cultural Sensitivity Discussion: Understanding Islam in the Context of Medical Training
This event is meant to be the first of many discussions on the critical importance of understanding cultural diversity and well-being in the context of medical training. Physicians, staff, faculty, and spiritual leaders will guide this discussion and educate medical personnel on the religion of Islam, the current issues of radical extremism, and the problem of Islamophobia. The goal is for health care workers to better understand the faith, sensitivities and concerns of their Muslim patients and colleagues. We hope to empower against micro-agressions and implicit bias, so that we can be strong advocates for our Muslim community. A light lunch will be served.

Class of 2018 Students: Please join us for 1-1 speed meetings with physicians from the Los Angeles County Medical Association. We will being with a light dinner at 6:00 PM. Students will then have an opportunity to rotate through and have informational interviews with physicians of various specialties to learn about their practice.
