Students outside of the front entrance to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
This online compendium includes current policies, standards, procedures and resources that govern students in the MD program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In addition, students participating in DGSOM’s MD program are subject to policies and standards established by University of California, UCLA, as well as the School of Medicine. Policies applicable to all UCLA students are published by the UCLA Office of the Registrar, Dean of Students, and Graduate Division. Every effort is made to ensure the information contained below is accurate and current however, it is not a comprehensive statement of all policies and procedures, nor is it intended to preclude the implementation of changes in the medical school program or policies for students. Changes to School policies, procedures, or requirements will be provided in updates at class meetings, in emails, on web pages, or in information memos. Important information about graduation requirements as well as process and procedures for scheduling clerkships and taking advantage of special programs will be distributed to or discussed with the class at appropriate times during the program through mailings, class meetings, and workshops. Students are expected to read and/or attend meetings to familiarize themselves with requirements and modifications that may impact their programs. UCLA and the School of Medicine reserve the right to make changes in the applicable regulations, procedures, policies, requirements, and other information contained on the website at any time without notice.
The Committee on Academic Standing, Progress, and Promotion (CASPP) of Medical Students is a standing subcommittee of the Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM). On behalf of the faculty of the DGSOM, CASPP promulgates standards and evaluates the academic performance, professionalism, and ability to meet the technical standards of each student on an ongoing basis from matriculation until graduation with an MD degree or the conclusion of enrollment at DGSOM ¬(See Appendices 1 and 2). CASPP reviews and reports on these standards annually to the FEC.
