Dr. Bhagat employs integrative OMICS techniques to leverage single cell RNA-sequencing, ATAC-sequencing, and proteomics data to identify secreted adipocyte signals and biomarkers that modulate adipose-liver cross-talk in the setting of obesity, bariatric surgery, anti-obesity therapeutics, diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction-associated liver disease. Additionally, my other projects involve the molecular follow-up of Mexican-specific BMI, cholesterol, and TG GWAS variants using bulk RNA-sequencing and molecular assays, such as electrophoretic mobility shift assays, luciferase assays, and promoter capture Hi-C sequencing.
