This department, the largest in External Affairs, raises funds to advance the university's mission. We create enduring relationships with individuals, corportations and foundations to generate support for UCLA's students, faculty and programs.
UCLA raises more private support than any other public university campus in the nation, and its practices and processes are emulated at sister institutions around the country. Development oversees The UCLA Fund, which generates unrestricted support for the university's greatest needs.
The UCLA Foundation, a nonprofit corporation organized under IRC 501(c)(3), receives and disburses private gifts on behalf of the university.

The UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is a research partnership of UCLA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and the Los Angeles Biomedical Institute at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Its mission is to bring biomedical innovations to bear on the greatest health needs of Los Angeles—the largest and one of the most ethnically, socially and economically diverse counties in the United States.
