Amanda Kosack, MD, FAAP
Assistant Clinical Professor
Dr. Amanda Kosack is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM). She received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology at Barnard College of Columbia University. She completed her medical training at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and her general pediatrics residency at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. She is currently a pediatric hospitalist at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and Santa Monica Medical Center.
She is currently an Educator for Excellence and serves as faculty for the Foundations of Practice course. She is the pediatric clerkship site director at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the pediatric hospitalist subI director. She serves as Chair of the Santa Monica Patient Family Centered Care Committee and the co-chair of the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital Patient Family Centered Care Committee and. She serves as the faculty advisor for the UCLA Undergraduate Premedical Undergraduate Learning Through Shadowing Experience (PULSE) Program.
Her interests include educating and advising medical student, resident, and premed undergraduate education. During her time as a pediatric hospitalist attending she has dedicated her research to patient and family centered care. She has optimized family-centered bedside rounds for a multidisciplinary team in the hospital. Her other interests including improving communication with Spanish speaking families and quality improvement in the pediatric inpatient setting.
Though she is from New York, she moved to Los Angeles for medical school and has stayed here since that time. As an alumna of DGSOM, she enjoys working with the current students and continuing to improve the curriculum and clinical experiences. She also is dedicated to her work with the premed undergraduate UCLA students to create opportunities to learn about multiple aspects of the healthcare system.
