Arielle Sommer, MD, FACP
I realized a love for medicine and patient care through volunteering at the USC hospitals as an undergraduate. I chose primary care for many reasons; importantly for the longitudinal relationships with patients, because I am passionate about preventative care and lifestyle to prevent disease and improve physical and mental health, and because I love constantly learning about all aspects of medicine and the human body. I am driven by the science of medicine and pathophysiology of disease and fulfilled by applying this knowledge with humanism to patient care.
I joined UCLA because teaching and medical education sustains and motivates me. I enjoy everything from breaking down complex science into understandable terms to coaching patient-interviewing skills. I have also found that teaching my patients, whether one-on-one, or in group-class settings, has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my practice.
