The shared values of the DGSOM are expressed in the Cultural North Star, which was developed by members of our community and affirms our abiding commitment to doing what’s right, making things better and being kind. These are the standards to which we hold ourselves, and one another.
We are working to infuse every level of our organization with these principles and building a community around the values is our first step.

More than 600 DGSOM staff, faculty, and trainees participated in the Cultural North Star Town Hall on August 17, 2021. During this event the DGSOM community had an opportunity to meet Vice Dean for Justice, Equity and Diversity Inclusion, Dr. David McIntosh, and our new Cultural North Star Program Lead, Dr. Natalie Perry. The virtual gathering also provided an opportunity to thank former Dean Kelsey Martin, MD, PhD for her steadfast support of CNS and JEDI.
The JEDI-CNS Talkback series is a collaboration designed to help educate the DGSOM educate about tenets of community and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. This series begins by responding to some of the questions and discussion topics presented by the DGSOM community during the town hall, and continues to hold space as a forum for engagement.
