Project Search Interns and Coaches, Cohort 10
Project SEARCH is a program for adults with developmental disabilities, coping with disorders that range from autism to intellectual disabilities. Participants are placed in specific jobs at the hospital to build their skills through a 12 month training program. They are also learning the art of making small talk with patients, hospital visitors, co-workers, supervisors and the medical staff, among other workplace skills that most of us take for granted.
Participants rotate through a variety of departments including Nursing, Support Services (EVS, Nutrition, Materials Management), ISS, Environmental Health and Safety, HR and Marketing. We are always open to new departments getting involved. Coaches are assigned to support participants in their new roles and departments so that the transition is as easy as possible.
