Explore Research Innovation at the David Geffen School of Medicine
Leadership has appointed a new Sr. Director of Research and Innovation, Desert Horse-Grant, to be the bridge across UCLA Health / DGSOM, the campus, the UC system and biotech community at large. Ms. Horse-Grant plays a critical role in the innovation ecosystem and hopes to streamline pathways to success for the UCLA community and its partners. She works closely with The Technology Development Group (TDG) Associate Vice Chancellor, Amir Naiberg, and together with the entire TDG team to serve as a campus-wide gateway to Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship. Faculty can get consultation, help in the determination of patentability and commercial value of new technologies, support to negotiate license agreements and facilitate UCLA faculty start-ups.

There are a number of policies and paperwork required based on title, level and compensation. It is best to get an individual consultation to ensure everything is complete. Here is an aggregation of some helpful policies but this website may not have a complete list of what is needed, nor does serve as a checklist for faculty at this time. Faculty may have differing or varying departmental and school disclosure responsibilities in addition to what is required at the institutional level. This website is for general knowledge and does not provide legal advice.
Department of Medicine faculty have two great resources when navigating conflict of interests and conflict of commitment:
