AAMC ERAS FRIEDA NRMP USMLE
You will continue to work with Mary Ann Triest through Year 3 to make your career decision, then you will transition over to work with Jason Bergschneider for Year 4.
Our job is to walk you through the application, interviewing, and ranking process step-by-step throughout the year. We begin this process in the fall of Year 3, we will have a few mandatory meetings for your class to discuss letters of recommendation, evaluations, and the MSPE (dean’s letter). You will also receive instructions about how to ask for letters of recommendation and information about where to find forms, etc. as well as get information about the Colleges and scheduling your 4th year schedule for the following year.
We send regular updates and reminders about the upcoming meetings as the dates approach as well as weekly emails entitled, "Residency Updates from the SAO" which include the latest information, strategies, events, and announcements.
ERAS Tokens will be issued the first week of June, watch your email!
The MSPE is a letter of evaluation (not a letter of recommendation) intended to summarize a student’s academic performance throughout medical school. It consists of sections describing the candidate's noteworthy characteristics, academic history (leaves, expected graduation date, joint or combined programs, etc.), a brief summary of the candidate's work in the preclinical curriculum, narrative evaluations from the core clinical clerkships, and a summative assessment of the student performance in medical school.

Senior Scholarship Day
The culmination of the College experience (and one of the final requirements to graduate) is Scholarship Day held on the Thursday before match day. Shamar Jones oversees this event and works with seniors and the College Chairs throughout the year in preparation. Each year, a few exceptional senior projects are selected to present at the Oral Plenary Session.
Match Day Celebration
At 9:00AM on the third Friday in March, envelopes are opened across the nation revealing where each senior will pursue their residency training. This exciting event is open to friends and family to attend. Learn more about Match Day at the David Geffen School of Medicine.
