CV and Personal Statement Resources
Writing Your Medical Student CV
Whether you are just getting started or just need help updating or polishing your medical student CV, the Career Development Office can help.
You can attend one of our monthly CV Workshops to get an overview of the basics before you get started or reach out to one of us in the Career Development Office to set up a one-on-one appointment to review your draft. Please contact amreyes@mednet.ucla.edu or mtriest@mednet.ucla.edu directly with any questions or to set up an appointment.
The AAMC Careers in Medicine website is also a great resource-- check out their page on Writing a Curriculum Vitae.
Once your CV draft is ready, we encourage you to share it with a trusted advisor or your specialty mentor for additional input before submitting to programs.
Personal Statements for Residency Applications
The UCLA Graduate Writing Center is a great resource for putting together your personal statement. We encourage you to review their Writing in Medicine page as well as their workshop video: Writing the Personal Statement for Residency in Medicine. You can also make an appointment with a GWC consultant here. Please note that all GWC consultants are qualified to help with personal statements for our medical students.
