As a hospitalist physician specializing in both internal medicine and pediatrics, I care for both hospitalized adults and children at UCLA Medical Center. I supervise and teach teams of residents and medical students rotating through their clinical inpatient blocks. I also serve as an instructor for the Foundations of Practice course at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, teaching students clinical skills, doctoring, and problem-based learning. My other interests include point-of-care ultrasound, medical simulation, and cognitive biases in medicine.
I am Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Global Health Pathway. Since 2012, I have been frequently working and teaching at our partner sites in Lilongwe, Malawi, where I lived from 2019-2020. I recently completed Doctors Without Borders’ Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine Program and obtained my Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
I was born in Beirut, Lebanon and immigrated here at a young age, but I love to visit my family there whenever possible. I enjoy running, yoga, scuba diving, hiking, tennis, and high-intensity interval training. I speak Arabic and French, play guitar, am an avid foodie, and I’m always planning my next trip to a new destination!
