Olivia Arreola-Owen, MD, FACP
Assistant Clinical Professor in the Health Sciences Track
I am a local gal who grew up in Northeast Los Angeles. I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Occidental College in Los Angeles. I then completed my medical training at UCSF, followed by residency in the Cedars-Sinai/VA Greater Los Angeles Internal Medicine residency program. I am currently a primary care internist at the Sepulveda VA Ambulatory Care Center, where I serve as the Site Director for the UCLA Internal Medicine residency program. For the past 7 years, I have been a group facilitator for the Doctoring 2 course for the David Geffen School of Medicine.
As a second generation native of Los Angeles, I have some local ties to UCLA’s affiliated programs, having been born at Kaiser Los Angeles – I was delivered by an OBGYN resident. After my brief interlude in San Francisco for medical school, I became a “Valley girl” when I moved back to L.A. I met my husband while living in the Bay Area, and we love eating at new restaurants (at least in the pre-COVID era) and raising our medically complex dog, Rupert. I also enjoy making new recipes in the kitchen. Out of necessity, I have also become somewhat of an expert about home remodeling projects as well.
