Dr. Samra is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where he co-directs the Hospital Based Violence Intervention and Trauma Recovery Center programs. He works clinically in the LA County Jail System where he formerly served as the medical director of the Whole Person Care Reentry Program. He currently co-chairs the Structural Racism and Health Equity Theme at the UCLA DGSOM. He is a graduate of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at UCLA and Olive View Medical Centers. He completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School and a Masters in Development Studies from Cambridge University where he was a Gates-Cambridge Scholar. He has an interest in liberation medicine and the use of healthcare to advance community organizing and social change.
