Commercial Support

As an accredited provider (defined as financial or in-kind support from ineligible companies) are we are responsible for ensuring that the integrity of the educational environment is preserved and independent of the ineligible company.

The Center for Continuing Professional Development (Center for CPD/CCPD) accepts support in the form of independent medical education grants (unrestricted educational grants) for educational activities sponsored by our office. Procurement of funds must be directed to the Center for CPD. The grant procurement process involves intricate planning and cross-functional stakeholders. Each grantor has unique timelines and documentation expectations. The Center for CPD’s goal is to collaborate with our course planning partners but cannot guarantee grant approval. Grant availability may vary year-over-year and must be applied for each individual course.

During the activity planning phase, the CCPD course lead will collaborate with the course chair and planning committee to:

  • identify appropriate organizations and therapeutic alignment
  • establish procurement timelines, including documentation requirements
  • review the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence and University process and policy
  • discuss revenue allocation and expense processing

For questions related to grants, please contact the CCPD course lead or our office via email at uclaccpd@mednet.ucla.edu
