Overview

Live, virtual and in-person conference. The 12th Annual UCLA-Mellinkoff Gastroenterology and Hepatology Symposium is designed to offer healthcare professionals evidence-based and integrative approaches to treat common GI disorders that can easily be implemented into practice and have significant impact on patient outcomes. An endoscopy forum with video and live cases will also show complex cases and new technology. New to the program is an in-person workshop with visual and interactive methods to teach the process of patient-centered care to improve communication skills, patient-provider relationship, and patient satisfaction. Interactive, case-based presentations and panel discussions by experts in their field will engage attendees and enhance this learning experience.

 

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

 

  1. Discuss therapeutic options and on-treatment management strategies for patients with liver disorders
  2. Discuss current goals of therapy and management strategies utilizing a holistic approach to treat disorders of the gut-brain interaction (DGBI)
  3. Apply the newest therapeutic strategies to better diagnose, classify and achieve remission in patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
  4. Describe treatment options and varying endoscopic approaches to managing pancreatic disorders
  5. Understand the medical and endoscopic management options for the treatment of esophageal disorders
  6. Understand the relationship between food and nutrition, and the foundational science involved in developing nutrition plans for GI disorders
  7. Implement practice skills and techniques to improve clinical-patient communication to enhance health outcomes

*Those who choose the in-person option can also access the virtual platform. If the attendee decides to change from in-person to virtual only, this must be received via email by March 4, 2024 to CCPD@mednet.ucla.edu in order to receive a refund for the difference. We do not offer single day rates.

Refunds
Cancellations must be received by email by March 4, 2024 to CCPD@mednet.ucla.edu and will be subject to a $75 processing fee. No refunds will be granted after that date. If, for any reason, the course is canceled, discontinued, or rescheduled, a full refund will be provided.
