FAQs

Q: How many interviews will I have? How long is each interview?
A: You will be scheduled for two, individual interview blocks. Each interview will be 30 minutes.

Q: Who will my interviewers be? Should I prep for this ahead of time?
A: Your interviewers will be DGSOM faculty members. However, you will not know who your interviewers are ahead of time and you are not responsible for knowing details about your interviewers.

Q: What should I do if my interviewer is late?
A: Don't fret if your interviewer is a little late! Many have different duties including clinical responsibilities. Stay in your Zoom Room if your interviewer is running less than 7 minutes late. If they are more than 7 minutes late, drop into the Support Room Zoom so we can assist.

Q: What time will my interviews be at? Can I request specific times?
A: We will not likely be able to schedule you at a specific time. However, we will do our best to accommodate you at an earlier time if you are not in Pacific Time Zone. Reach out to us immediately if your day-of location will be in a different time zone than your applicant address! Reach out to us if there is another urgent need or accommodation request.

    • Headset/Ear-buds - If you will use the Computer Audio, please use a headset (preferably with a microphone) to avoid any feedback or noise from your speakers.

Your space:

  • Private, quiet, and well-lit
  • Suitable to a calm and focused interview experience

Remember to:

  • Turn off message and call notifications
  • Notify roommates of your interview
  • Do a room scan for a neat backdrop (*our technical platform for interviews may not support virtual backgrounds)

We encourage you to think carefully and creatively about your interview space. Consider both traditional (e.g., room with a desk) as well as unconventional (e.g., car) spaces that will allow you to stay calm and remain focused. If you do not have access to a private space or car, consider private spaces in local libraries, community centers, local colleges, universities, or medical schools.
