NIAMS Regenerative Musculoskeletal T32 RFA
NIAMS Regenerative Musculoskeletal Medicine T32 Training Program
The training program is open to any UCLA post-doctoral/clinical fellow/resident who is a US citizen or permanent resident and whose research interest focuses on aspects of musculoskeletal biology.
Awards are funded for one year with a possible renewal of 1 additional year upon satisfactory progress. The amount awarded provides salary support and career development for postdoctoral fellows in Regenerative Musculoskeletal Medicine Training, at the T32 salary range listed on the UCLA Postdoctoral Scholar site for up to two years. Fellows may be post-residency physicians in any area of medicine or PhDs committed to academic careers in musculoskeletal medicine.
The RMMTP provides the training in methodology and conduct of basic and clinical research to qualify trainees to investigate the mechanisms of musculoskeletal disease drug actions in humans. Trainees conduct research projects under the supervision of primary mentors and also have a co-mentor in a complimentary field. This structure encourages trans-disciplinary research training. Progress is evaluated periodically by mentoring committees consisting of a lead mentor, the co-mentor and one or more research preceptors who are not directly involved in the trainee's project.
Emphasis is placed on conducting research in special populations, including women, children, geriatric persons, and members of ethnic minority groups. We encourage the recruitment, retention, and training of scholars who are members of underrepresented groups and diverse specialties and with disabilities.
