American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) Mentor Survey
This program hopes to connect DGSOM female-identifying medical students to women physicians at all levels of their careers. Our hope is that mentors and mentees will meet at least once (over the phone, Zoom, etc.) Whether or not you choose to continue further conversations or longitudinal mentorship, and how you choose to do so, is completely up to you and your mentee.

AMA Handbook: Accelerating Change in Medical Education Coaching
Coaching is emerging as an intriguing framework to provide professional development and assistance to learners in medical education. While long used in the business world, and more recently in physician circles, coaching is relatively new to the medical trainee world. Literature is still emerging regarding the best coaching practices that will lead to the best outcomes for our learners. To fill this gap, we offer this handbook.
Coaching for Medical Educators
The Faculty Professional Development unit offers coaching sessions for faculty related to their role as medical educators. These sessions occur at the request of faculty who have self-identified an area of interest or need related to teaching and would like personalized coaching and feedback.
- Confidential, non-evaluative observations of teaching
- Principles of adult learning in the instructional design of a presentation, workshop, or course
- Redesigning a presentation, workshop, or course for an online audience
- Integrating research-based interactive teaching strategies into teaching
- Any other area of interest related to excellence in teaching
Clear communication is a necessity in healthcare. Non-native speakers of English working in a clinical or research setting may find it personally and professionally rewarding to improve their communication skills (American English pronunciation; note writing; report writing; professional presentations; etc.) by working directly with an English-language trainer.
