Jessica is a board-certified and licensed genetic counselor. She received her Bachelors in Psychology and Minor in Disability Studies from UCLA and her Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling from Stanford University. She has clinical experience in pediatric and adult medical genetics, including in general genetics, craniofacial, chromatinopathies, and the inpatient service. In her clinical role, she also supervised many genetic counseling students. She joined the program’s teaching faculty in 2020; she instructs several courses, develops standardized patient experiences, serves on student capstone research committees, co-chair of the Curriculum Committee, and serves on the admissions committee and advisory board, among other contributions. She also co-coordinates peer supervision, is a member of the UCLA Genetic Counselors Professional Development Committee, and previously co-coordinated two workshops for fieldwork supervisors. She has served as a member for committees within the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) and the Southern California Genetic Counselors (SCGC). She is passionate about education, outreach, and increasing inclusivity within the field of genetic counseling, including belonging of people with disabilities in genetic counseling. She commits volunteer time to educating community members about genetic counseling, including leading many talks on carrier screening for young adults and couples hoping to start a family.
