Karla Luna is a first-generation student from Menifee, California. She graduated from UC Riverside with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She gained clinical experience as a cancer genetics intern at Providence St. Joseph's Hospital and launched the first genetic counseling assistant program at Genome Medical. Karla joined the Huntington's Disease Society as a board member, which allowed her to learn about HD from a patient-centered perspective. She served as the community education manager with the Genetic Counseling Prospective Network and collaborated with SCGC and NCCGC outreach committees to introduce underrepresented community college students to the field. She hopes to continue developing outreach events to spread awareness of and garner interest in the field of genetic counseling. During her free time, she loves to travel, watch K-dramas and spend time with her dog Roxy.
