My name is Luis Torres, and I am from the city of Fontana, CA. I graduated from UCLA in 2021 with a BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, and a minor in Society and Genetics. In my time as an undergraduate, I served as a board member for the Genetic Counseling Student Interest Group as well as an Academic Learning Facilitator with the UCLA-HHMI Pathways to Success Program, where I provided tutoring and mentorship to life science students from diverse backgrounds. I also volunteered as a Genetic Counseling Volunteer in the Bowyer Oncology Clinic at UCLA Health, which reaffirmed my passion for genetic counseling and working with patients. I am most looking forward to training alongside a talented group of students and contributing to the growth of the UCLA program and the genetic counseling profession as a whole. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching baseball/softball games, and catching up on my favorite TV shows!
