About
Sonya Watson is a genetic counselor, board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed in California and Oregon. She received both her MS in Genetic Counseling and her BS in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). During her time as a student Sonya was involved in basic neuroscience research in the neurosurgery and behavioral neuroscience departments as well as clinical research in the pediatric psychiatry department. Currently Sonya specializes in neurogenetics and provides genetic counseling to patients with neurodegenerative, neuromuscular, and neurodevelopmental diseases. She continues her research involvement with the UCLA Clinical Neurogenomics Research Center (CNRC) and researches various aspects of neurologic diseases with genetic etiologies. She provides clinical supervision for genetic counseling students and is an instructor for the UCLA MS in Genetic Counseling Program.
