We are excited to announce the launch of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Trainee Travel Award Program, established by the Office of Cancer Training & Education. The program provides travel and conference funding to UCLA students (undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs) working on cancer research projects. The award will provide from $600 up to $1,000 in funding for qualified research expenses as defined by UCLA's official travel policy, and can be used towards conference registration fees, travel, food, poster creation fees andlodging expenses. The program is competitive and open to JCCC trainee members only. 
   
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time UCLA student working on cancer research projects, at the time funds are awarded and the travel completed.
  • Must be an active UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center trainee member. If you are not a Cancer Center trainee member and wish to join, please apply for free membership
  • Must have been accepted to present an in-person paper as an oral presentation or poster at a cancer related conference.
  • Must submit application at least six (6) weeks prior to conference travel.   

   Parameters: 

  • Reimbursement is not available for travel completed prior to award date.
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
  • Support is available for participation in both in-person or virtual conferences (ie conference registration fees).
  • Funds must be used for conference expenses (conference registration fees, travel, food, poster creation fees and lodging expenses). 
  • Award amounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and will not exceed $1,000 per awardee.
  • Awards are limited to one JCCC trainee per JCCC affiliated faculty member per year.
