The Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR) Seminar Series brings together experts in the field of child and family trauma to discuss important topics related to prevention science, family intervention, best practices, and cutting-edge research.
This Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR) Seminar will begin with a discussion of the impact of stigma on the health and wellbeing of people with a substance use disorder. The presentation will provide an overview of the impact of stimulants and opioids, including patterns and trends in stimulant and opioid use in the United States, acute and chronic mental health and physical effects and consequences, and the impact of stimulant use on memory and cognition. The presentation will conclude with a review of evidence-based behavioral treatment interventions and recovery supports for people with a stimulant use disorder, and best practices in medical treatments for people with an opioid use disorder. Time will be made available for attendees to engage in chat discussion and Q&A.
