The cannabis landscape is changing faster than ever. With hemp-derived products ubiquitous in the consumer market and potential federal rescheduling of cannabis to Schedule III on the horizon, patients, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers are navigating uncharted territory. What do these shifts mean for public health, clinical care, and the future of cannabis research? There has never been a more important, or more complicated, moment to take stock of where we are and where we are headed.

We hope you will join us on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the UCLA Center for Cannabis and Cannabinoids 2026 Annual Symposium.

This year's theme, "From Hemp-derived Products to Schedule III Cannabis: New Frontiers Impacting Patients and Policy," will bring together a day of interdisciplinary talks featuring UCLA researchers and investigators, along with two distinguished keynote speakers:

  • Ryan Vandrey, PhD — Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
  • Beau Kilmer, PhD — Codirector, RAND Drug Policy Research Center; Senior Policy Researcher, RAND; Professor of Policy Analysis, RAND School of Public Policy
