Semaglutide, the GLP-1 drug best known for diabetes & weight loss, has shown medium-to-large effects in clinical trials for alcohol use disorder, reducing both drinking & craving. It's one of several novel compounds that could finally move the needle on alcohol treatments. A great example of how a drug developed for one purpose can open up entirely new territory for treating addiction.
