Novel Approaches to Tackling Migraine From the Bench to the Community
Abstract: Migraine is one of the most disabling neurological conditions worldwide, with sociodemographic factors playing an important role in access to adequate migraine care. We will review novel micro-electronic techniques and AI approaches used to study the intersection of sleep and migraine-associated pathophysiology, including cortical spreading depression, nitric oxide exposure, and hypoxic conditions. Through these studies, we aim to identify unique therapeutic targets for migraine. Yet, directly increasing access to adequate migraine care requires alternative strategies. We will share ongoing community-based efforts to engage with the local Los Angeles school system to reduce the burden of pediatric migraine in underserved populations.
