Marisa Matthews, MS
Master's Alum
About
Marisa is from Fairfield, CA and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from UC Santa Barbara in 2018. As an undergraduate, she participated in a science outreach program for local middle schoolers and volunteered at a skilled nursing facility, experiences that fostered her joy of educating and supporting within her community. Following graduation, she worked at Myriad Women’s Health in the accessioning department and volunteered at UCSF’s Cancer Risk program. After two-and-a-half years at Myriad Women's Health, she pursued her goal of gaining more direct exposure to genetic counseling and began work as a genetic counseling assistant in pediatric genetics at UCLA in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, scoping out the best coffee shops, and exploring everything LA has to offer. She looks forward to training across many clinical settings and specialties, as well as contributing to increased access to genetics services within the community.
