Sarah is a California native who was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated magna cum laude from UCLA in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology and a minor in Anthropology. Sarah developed a passion for science education and communication early on while volunteering at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco. While completing her undergraduate degree, Sarah worked at the Integrated and Interconnected Bioelectronics Lab to fabricate aptamer-based biosensors to sense metabolites in sweat. During her time at the lab, Sarah enjoyed giving presentations explaining the clinical implications of their technology. After graduation, Sarah began working as a genetic counseling assistant at UCLA Health Cancer Genetics where she supported genetic counselors in clinic and coordinated genetic testing through UCLA’s Genetic Testing Sites, locations where individuals with current cancer diagnoses can have access to expedited testing. Sarah is ecstatic to continue her journey as a Bruin and help spread awareness about the field of genetic counseling. When she is not working or studying, Sarah loves to enjoy LA’s beautiful beaches, read, explore new restaurants and spend time with her cat, Percy.
