As we increasingly hear about prejudicial acts, words, or comments that target vulnerable populations it is critical that we renew our commitment to our shared values of equity and diversity inclusion.
The David Geffen School of Medicine recognizes that these acts result from a long history of institutionalized racism in our country that lead to disparities in health and healthcare. Racism is a root cause of disparate outcomes in longevity and wellbeing. As a community dedicated to healing humanity, we commit ourselves to illuminating the injustices that create inequity – while taking active steps to advance our advocacy and efforts in confronting racism to sustain our commitment to achieving health equity.
