Like neuroimaging? Like brain theory? Our third lecture for 2026 is on BRAINN (Biophysically Restrained Analog Integrated Neural Network). BRAINN uses elementary analog electrical circuits (resistors, capacitors, inductors) networked together to realistically model the dynamics of each individual human brain, including in aging and disease. Unlike other models with numerous parameters estimated from training samples, BRAINN calculates its parameters from the subject’s own multimodal MRI (DTI, ASL, rsfMRI, and MRS) data and uses only one arbitrary constant. Come see a novel approach to quantitative modelling of brain function.

Our speaker, Dr. Ravi Bansal, is a PhD electrical engineer and a highly successful master of advanced neuroimaging, including MRS. For years he has conducted rigorous, cutting-edge neuroimaging research on pediatric psychiatric and neurologic disorders.
