Apply for the Medical Education Fellowship

With continuous calls for improvement to medical education, it is essential we prepare both current and future faculty to take on leadership roles in leading quality improvement in content, process, and outcomes of medical education across the continuum, from undergraduate and residency training to Continuing Medical Education (CME). The Medical Education Fellowship (MEF) program at DGSOM prepares fellows to assist their departments in identifying learning objectives, designing effective educational experiences, improving assessment of performance, and evaluating the quality and impact of existing programs.

Medical Education Fellowship (MEF) 2

MEF 2 traditionally serves as a second year extension to MEF 1 where fellows learn theories and principles of educational research design and methodologies and engage in a mentored scholarly project related to their curricular innovation, and obtain consultation from their fellow colleagues for new ideas to refine and improve their projects. Fellows are supported and mentored by faculty from DGSOM and from the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies to help them develop and implement their research project. The goal of the second year is to support emerging scholars in medical education to yield publication-ready, peer-reviewed scholarly work.
