The David Geffen School of Medicine uses a holistic process for medical school interviews and the medical school application process. This process adheres to the AAMC's recommended Application and Acceptance Protocols.

Basis of Selection
Consideration for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Medical school candidates are selected on the basis of the following considerations:
- Undergraduate record
- Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) scores
- Letters of recommendation
- Graduate record (where applicable)
- Life experiences (research, volunteerism, clinical, work, leadership, publications)
- Admission interviews
- AAMC PREview Exam scores (for Traditional MD Program Track applicants only)
Medical School Interview: What to Expect at DGSOM
Interviews will be conducted virtually for the 2025-2026 application cycle.
Please note: If you are selected for an interview, the interview will be specific to the track for which you are granted an interview. Review track-specific information for the MD Program, UCLA-Caltech MSTP, and PRIME-LA.

How will I know if I have an interview?
Candidates who are invited to interview will be contacted directly via email with details on scheduling, instructions, and recommendations.
How can I prepare for my interview?
You will receive some guidance and recommendations along with your interview invitation.

Who will my interview be with?
One-on-one interviews are held with DGSOM faculty members. You are not responsible for knowing who your interviewers are. The focus is on you!
What format will my interview be?
One-on-one virtual interviews are held as the core interview format.
When do interviews take place?
Interviews are typically conducted from August through January or until the class is filled.
What if I require accommodations?
Candidates requiring accommodations should contact the Admissions Office following receipt of an invitation to interview.
Medical School Interview: DGSOM’s Interview Selection Process
Normally interview days are a chance to walk the halls, meet potential mentors, and explore the amenities of campus life. Take an aerial tour to get a bit of that goodness virtually this year.
- Medical school applications are received are reviewed
- Select applicants are invited to submit a secondary institutional application
- Secondary applications and original medical school applications are comprehensively reviewed
- Select applicants are invited to interview
- The Admissions Committee determines the final offers of admission
- Offers of admission are extended during the Fall and Spring
- Two reapplications per applicant are permitted
