Graduate Programs in Bioscience is hosting a newly scheduled two-part Advancing Faculty Mentoring Practices Workshop on October 16th and 23rd. The objective of the workshops is to enrich current mentoring practices by providing faculty with evidence-based approaches to research mentoring while offering a forum in which to solve dilemmas. This training comes from the Center For the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) and the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN). It is recognized by NIH and NSF for grant applications as evidence of a commitment to trainee mentoring, including trainees from diverse backgrounds. Please feel free to distribute this announcement to other faculty who might want to participate. For more information, please see below.

Full-Length Mentor Training (6 hours): Encouraged for faculty who have not previously participated in mentor training at UCLA.

  • Dates: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, October 16 and October 23, 2024
  • Application Period: Open Now until October 4, 2024
  • Where: A two-part Zoom virtual workshop.

Eligibility:

  1. Faculty, Senior Research Scientist, or Administrators who are directly mentoring trainees in STEM-related fields or working with mentors whose trainees are in those fields.
  2. Must be able to attend the entire training.
  3. Register for the event to confirm workshop attendance.
  4. omplete a post-workshop evaluation survey.

Registration Information: Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. This training requires a minimum number of participants. If the minimum isn't reached the event might be canceled or postponed.
