Recharge Corner:  A quiet, safe, and restorative space within Geffen Hall

The Recharge Corner in Geffen Hall, room 210 (2nd Floor), was created to offer DGSOM medical students a quiet, safe, and restorative space within Geffen Hall — a place to decompress, reflect, and recharge amidst the demands of medical training.

This space was conceptualized and advocated for by the Disabilities and Chronic Illness Interest Group Leadership, beginning with the 2022–2023 Co-Chairs whose vision was to promote student well-being, mindfulness, and community care.

The maximum capacity for the room at this time is 3 people. The room has three usable spaces: two with recliner chairs and one with a yoga mat.

Brief Guiding Principles and Use Guidelines

The use of the Recharge Corner space is grounded in the values of respect, mindfulness, inclusion, and community stewardship.  We ask that all who enter help maintain the room’s purpose and quiet atmosphere by silencing all devices and refraining from calls, conversations, or music without headphones.  This is a non-study, non-meeting space meant for quiet recovery. The ideal time for use is 30 minutes to allow all students the opportunity to benefit from the space.
