Dr. Partovi has spent over 20 years working with people experiencing homelessness. She started writing about her patients and submitted her first Op-Ed to the LA Times in 2007. She describes her interactions with her patients as you get to be front center witnessing how she relates to them using compassion, acceptance, humor and a whatever-it-takes modus operandi; she also takes time to voice her frustrations of the injustices often affecting people experiencing homelessness, poverty, substance use and severe mental illness. She often will give the cultural or legislative prescription for what ails her patients forcing individual and society as a whole to take a closer look at how we can best care for the sickest aka being a Renegade.
