MRI machine

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • 20 to 80 years of age
  • Diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes
  • Or aged matched non-diabetics
  • Willing to undergo a 90-minute MRI/MRS scan of the brain (no contrast dye will be use)

There is no fee to participate in the study. You will be paid $100 in cash or cash equivalent for your participation.

The purpose of this study is to look at whether the results of a type of radiology test, called Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), looking at the metabolites and fat in the brain, are related to inflammation. If they are related, MRI/MRS is a more efficient, less invasive way of examining a diabetic person's risk for stroke, kidney disease, and heart disease.

Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and for research purposes only. You will not directly benefit from your participation in this research study. However, the results of this study will provide valuable information to researchers to understand diabetes.
