Deep brain stimulation for treatment of chronic low back pain study
Do you have chronic low back pain?

The UCLA Department of Neurosurgery is conducting a clinical research study on the investigational use of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of chronic low back pain. You may be eligible if you:
- Are between the ages of 40 and 74
- History of chronic low back pain as primary neurologic diagnosis with persistent pain despite maximal medical therapy
- Pain due to low back pain or failed surgery syndrome (FBSS)
- Ability to give consent to participate in the 1.5-year follow-up, involving assessments and stimulator adjustments
- Willingness to have unexpected neurological or psychiatric symptoms shared with study clinicians
