The great thing about financial aid here at DGSOM is that we have a robust amount of support.
So not only do we have different types of medical school scholarships available to you as a student, but we also help you in the event that you need to borrow student loans.
Nearly half of our students receive merit scholarships. 90% of our students receive some type of scholarship support.
When you choose to come to DGSOM, know that you will have the financial support that you need to both fund your medical education while being a full-time medical student.

We encourage you to complete the financial aid paperwork as soon as possible.
Once you're admitted to DGSOM, we will send you additional instructions that include steps to complete your FAFSA application, steps to complete your institutional application, and any necessary supporting documentation.

The institutional application is an application that our office, the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, provides.

All of our international students are eligible for any of the merit scholarships.
If you’re a prospective international student and you're considering DGSOM, know that we have funding options that are available for you.
You'll be partnered with your financial aid counselor and they will build a customized package for you.

We're committed to making sure that we get you a provisional award letter within 1 to 3 business days upon being admitted.
Our office will officially provide you with what's called your financial aid award letter after our housing rates and our tuition and fees are finalized in June.

You will receive your financial aid letter once our office receives all of the information that we need. We disburse financial aid no sooner than ten days before the start of the semester.

You're going to be a full-time medical student and we want to reassure you we've taken the steps to account for how much we believe you will need to fund your tuition and fees to make sure that you have enough to financially support yourself.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office hosts webinars on the financial aid process throughout the month of March.
We have an appeals process that allows us to take into account what you and your family's income is today versus what it was two years ago because we acknowledge that things may have changed.
Reach out to our office and your financial aid counselor to go over the steps with you.
Anyone who was offered admission will be considered for medical school scholarships automatically. There is no separate application for the major scholarships that we offer, and they will continue to use that holistic review to determine who is at the top of that list to receive a scholarship.
